Bee pollen is a product with great nutritional qualities. A long time ago, beekeepers, who had dedicated themselves to carefully spying on the hives, observed, among other things as strange as they were interesting, that the larvae of the bees grew practically in plain sight. In fact, it was established that these larvae multiplied about 1,500 times their own weight in just six days. Such a growth regimen was indicated not only to amaze the friends of nature but also to arouse the interest of men of science, always on the lookout for this kind of phenomena, since whoever says extraordinary growth regimen says adequate nutrition.
As, moreover, the nutritional value and beneficial virtues of honey have been known since ancient times, the case of the larvae was even more worthy of interest. But it took a long time to discover that, greedy, bees keep honey for themselves and that it is not honey that they use to feed their larvae but another substance: pollen from flowers.
As is known, pollen is the male seed of flowers, a seed that the wind or insects are responsible for disseminating and making it reach the female pistil of the same botanical species. Made up of corpuscles whose size is only about 50 thousandths of a millimeter, this impalpable powder potentially contains the energy and all the necessary principles for the formation of a plant, a fruit or perhaps a large tree. Here is the secret of the prodigious vitality of bee larvae.
By dint of patient observation, the system of collection and preparation of pollen by bees was also discovered. While other worker bees forage for nectar, the first material used to make honey, the bees specialized in keeping the larvae collect the pollen in the heart of the flower, with a little nectar they agglutinate it in the form of balls and take it to the honeycomb in a kind of tiny basket located in the hollow of its hind legs.
It is from this preparation that specialists have studied the possibilities of its use by man, convinced that pollen is vital energy in its purest form, since it contains an abundance of vitamins, calcium, phosphorus and other trace elements. The pollen contains all the vital principles for the development of the being and this in such a complex compound that only nature could elaborate.
The administration of flower pollen to people of any age and condition has been shown to have the healthiest effects, without ever causing any disorder. It is very beneficial in cases of chronic constipation. In colitis, as in colibacillosis, interesting results have also been observed. Some patients who suffered from chronic diarrhea resistant to antibiotic treatment have improved by taking pollen.
Bee pollen causes a very rapid and spectacular recovery of weight and strength in convalescents, being a notorious euphoriant. In old age its effects are also extraordinary.
In anemic children, thanks to pollen, a rapid rise in the level of hemoglobin in the blood is observed. To this we must add that many people have been consuming natural pollen for long periods without ever registering phenomena of intolerance.
Children in growth crisis, convalescents, exhausted people, so numerous at this time, people with a tendency to age prematurely, that is, in all those cases in which vitality is low or the organism is weakened, bee pollen has been revealed as a sovereign revitalizing and an invigorating fortifier without equal.
On the other hand, it has been found that, without being a laxative, bee pollen is probably the most perfect regulator of intestinal functions discovered so far. As paradoxical as it may seem, it ends in a few days with only the most persistent constipation and also with intestinal relaxation. There are many women who were forced to take a more or less irritating laxative every day and honey pollen has definitively freed them from this obsessive concern, providing them at the same time in most cases the joy of living and general well-being. According to Dr. Robert Le Bihan, in intestinal disorders, pollen is unparalleled in both constipation and colitis.
Pure pollen, therefore, is undoubtedly registered as one of the great elements of modern dietetics that aspires to alleviate the deficiencies of our habitual sophisticated diet. In fact, intestinal disorders, declines in vitality such as early senility are essentially caused either by the accumulation of waste that is harmful to the body, which progressively lead to the poisoning of cells, or by the absence of principles essential active ingredients or some sufficiently effective purifying element. Well, bee pollen, collected by bees, contains precisely the necessary elements, both revitalizing and purifying.
